ACTOR James Purefoy married his long-term girlfriend in a private Somerset ceremony on Saturday.
The Taunton-born star, who grew up in Martock and previously worked at Yeovil District Hospital, married Jessica Adams at his Middle Chinnock home in front of friends and family.
Mr Purefoy, who has a daughter with art historian Jessica, is best known for his television appearances in Rome and The Following.
It is understood the couple made their vows in front of celebrity guests including Jude Law, Sienna Miller and Jason Isaacs.
Commander Peter Libby, Mr Purefoy’s step-father, said: “Our whole family was there and everyone enjoyed a wonderful day.
“We hope they will have a happy life together.”
The community has offered its congratulations to the couple. The Reverend Peter Thomas, rector of Middle Chinnock church and other surrounding parishes, said: “I wish them well on their married life together and hope we will see them in the area.”
Garry Medcalf, landlord of the Muddled Man pub, West Chinnock, said he was proud to help in preparations for the occasion by accommodating wedding guests.
He said: “We looked after four guests from Jessica’s side of the family. We believe there were in excess of 200 guests at the wedding.”
A Yeovil Town Football Club spokesman welcomed the news about one of its most famous supporters.
He said: “James visited the players in the changing room before the Wembley play-off finals last year to wish us luck. We hope the couple had a fantastic day.”
Don Nye, chairman of West and Middle Chinnock Parish Council, also congratulated the couple.
